Cypress, Red Oak, Honey Locust, Walnut and Evergreen Pear Vessels
Standing at a height of 12 inches, the Southern California Cypress vessel has gone through an ancient Japanese process of burning the wood called Yakisugi. This treatment extends the lifespan of the piece, making it water, pest and decay resistant.
Each vessel is hand turned and a one of a kind piece.

Every piece goes through an extremely thorough finishing process. Each bowl or vessel receives numerous passes of various abrasives, oils and waxes including 6 grits of sandpaper, a gentle water bath to bring out any remaining loose wood fibers, 0000 steel wool, two different buffing pads that work in the finishing oils, and finally a coat of wax is delivered on a piece of leather at an extremely high speed to accentuate the wood's natural glow.
To properly care for this item if used in the kitchen: Always rinse off any food and then gently wash the bowl or board by hand with warm-to-hot water and mild dish soap. Avoid abrasive cleaning products. Dry immediately. To ensure that any water absorbed by the wood evaporates, allow the piece to air-dry completely before putting it away.
The beauty of handmade lives in the imperfections.
